Joseph Samuel Amato, age 73, of Madison, Ohio, passed away Friday, July 24, 2015 at home. He was born July 26, 1941 in Cleveland to Jennie (nee Campofrendano) and Joseph Amato.

Joseph enjoyed fishing, camping, fast cars and working on cars. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was known as a real prankster.

He is survived by daughter, Sylvia Amato Moses; granddaughter, Gina (Chad Ward) Moses; great-grandchildren, Alexander Ward, Christopher Ward; grandson, Odas (Gina Stohlman) Moses; great-grandchild, Olivia Moses; daughter, Janice Kitchen; granddaughter, Alicia (Gheorghe Deveney) Kitchen; great-grandchild, Jude Deveney; granddaughter, Bryanna (John Burke) Kitchen; great-grandchild, Camden Burke; grandson, Jacob (Danielle Signorelli) Kitchen; great-grandchild, Savannah Kitchen; daughter, Jennifer Amato; grandchildren, Charles (Candice Zarbo) Anderson III, Heather Anderson; great-grandchild, Dominic Anderson; son, Joseph (Maureen) Amato; grandson, Patrick DiCicco; granddaughter, Alyssa Amato; great-grandchild, Aaliyah Decker; grandson, Joseph Amato; granddaughter, Amber Amato; daughter, Stacie (Mel Smolic) Amato; grandchildren, Gabrielle Amato, Angelina Pietrangelo, Giuliana Smolic; son, John (Nicole) Amato; grandchildren, Nicholas, Mia, John, and Michael Amato; daughter, Pamela Popik; grandson, David Popik; former wife, Judith Amato. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Brian Ward.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Knollwood Cemetery, 1678 Som Center Road, Mayfield Heights, Ohio. Following the service the family will receive friends at the FOE Aerie #2300, 37299 Euclid Ave, Willoughby, Ohio.
